Our next Featured Artist – Mela Blust!
Wildlings!
Over the next week, Mela will be sharing some of her stunning poetry with us, accompanied by a selection of her visual art and photography. Today we introduce her with a beautiful previously unpublished poem.
life breath go walk poem
small mouths beg as the god prays to her
thighs
morning whistles in through the eaves, carrying the scent of
ripe fruits –
some exotic blossom to sink teeth into
covered in a light dusting of
the daily news
blaring through thin stucco
the streets are alive with paper
bringing everyone from their abodes
miniature birds peck at crumbs
of disbelief
ashes are bottles and prayers are whispered into the ears of
babies
fingers bring meat and milk to lips, feet drum on asphalt
screams echo into twilight, taillights signify the end or
the beginning or the middle of the story and all is just
another page
all is turning
